The middle schoolers are moving on to their next project. I've asked them to think of an animal that they feel they share personality traits with. For this project, they will draw a hybrid of a portrait and their animal. They first started by drawing a grid on their paper that is in proportion with the grid over their photograph. It will be up to each student to decide how much of them will be human and how much will be animal. I'm looking forward to watch these come along!

Last week, students made great strides in their zentangle designs. I will upload their finished designs to the gallery below when they are complete!
This week began a new cycle of students, and what better way to set the tone for drawing than a still life? I showed students images of still lifes from various artists, and then told them our twist- that the background will be comprised of a zentangle design. Students will be able to create repeating patterns in their background to contrast their still life. They're off to a great start!
