My Curriculum:
Kindergarten: Students learn the elements of art while practicing art from across time and cultures starting at the very beginning.
First grade: Students move forward on this continuum and learn about the life and work of famous artists and their movements, beginning with Impressionism and ending with Keith Haring.
Second grade: Students are exposed to contemporary art and artists, and create work inspired by their methods. They learn about artists that have creative and accessible approaches to their work.
Third grade: Since students are now old enough to have a deeper understanding of culture and tradition, I work with them on projects that reflect this cognitive stage and the lessons run parallel with their social studies topics.
Fourth grade: Art lessons are driven by their math objectives and the students' imagination. They are aimed expose students to practical applications of art.
